Removing the hood lock (Focus Turnier 1)

Unlock the hood with the ignition key. The lock drum is located behind the Ford emblem on the radiator grille. Experience has shown that the lock drum is prone to periodic jamming if poorly maintained. In order to thoroughly remove street dirt and salt deposits from the lock mechanism, it is recommended to dismantle the hood lock assembly.

All models

Remove the lock plate.

Remove the radiator grille (arrows).



Disconnect the connector on the hood latch.

Only models with air conditioning

Raise the front of the vehicle securely.

Remove the mudguard.

Disconnect the wire connector on the horn.

Remove the radiator bracket. Secure the radiator and AC condenser to the lower hose with suitable wire.

Lower the car.

Support the radiator with suitable wire at the top hose.

All models

Mark the position of the hood lock with a felt-tip pen - remove the lock.



When installing, assemble all structural elements in reverse order.

Tighten the radiator bracket mounting bolts to 25 Nm.
