Checking the coolant level

At least once a week, when the engine is off and cold, the coolant level in the expansion tank (2, see Fig. Engine compartment of a car with a gasoline engine).

The expansion tank is located on the right side of the engine compartment. The coolant level, visible through the transparent walls of the tank, should be at the height of the "max" sign. If necessary, replenish the amount of coolant after unscrewing the plug in the expansion tank.

Attention! When the engine is hot, the cooling system is under pressure. Therefore, first unscrew the plug a little, wait until the pressure in the expansion tank equalizes with the atmospheric pressure, and then unscrew the plug completely.

Minimum coolant level indicator light

In some versions, in the middle of the front panel, under the middle ventilation nozzles, there is a control lamp that lights up if the coolant level drops below the minimum. The coolant should be replenished immediately, following the instructions above.

Checking the condition and tightness of pipeline connections

Every 10,000 km of vehicle mileage, the condition and tightness of the cooling system pipeline connections should be visually checked.

Replacing the coolant

Every two years it is recommended to flush the cooling system and replace the coolant.
