Removal
Drain the coolant into a clean container.

Disconnect the combination plug connector of the thermal switch.
Loosen the clamps and remove the upper coolant hose and the air bleed hose.
Unscrew the 3 mounting bolts and remove the coolant outlet pipe.
Remove the thermostat together with the sealing ring.
Check the thermostat.
Installation

Check that the sealing ring is seated correctly on the thermostat.
Insert the thermostat into the housing so that the air bleed valve on the thermostat is located strictly at the top.
Place the housing and tighten the fastening to a torque of 20 Nm.
Connect the upper coolant hose and the air bleed hose to the coolant outlet pipe and tighten the clamps.
Connect the combined plug connector of the thermal switch.
Fill with coolant, see section "Maintenance".
Warm up the engine and check the tightness of the coolant outlet pipe connection; if necessary, carefully tighten the mounting bolts.
