Coolant — Basic Information (Scorpio 2)

The cooling system is filled at the factory with a coolant consisting of a mixture of water, FORD antifreeze and an anti-corrosion additive. This prevents the liquid from freezing, rust and corrosion, salt deposits and, in addition, increases the boiling point of the coolant. Therefore, the engine cooling system must be filled with a coolant containing antifreeze and an anti-corrosion additive all year round.

Caution: FORD SCORPIO vehicles may be equipped with FORD Super Plus 4 green-blue antifreeze or FORD ESD-M97B-49A compliant antifreeze. SCORPIO cooling system may be filled with FORD SUPER PLUS 2000 red antifreeze, WSS-M97B44-D compliant.

Caution: When refilling the coolant level, make sure that the coolant you add contains the same antifreeze as the coolant already filled. If the coolant in the expansion tank is brown (green-blue and red antifreezes are mixed), this will cause serious engine damage. This coolant must be completely drained and the cooling system must be blown out from the expansion tank side with compressed air to remove all remaining liquid. Then fill the cooling system with clean water and run the engine for a few minutes to flush the system. Drain the water and fill the cooling system with a mixture of water and antifreeze. When replacing the coolant, it is recommended to use FORD SUPER PLUS 2000 antifreeze.

If the cooling system is filled with a mixture of water and Super Plus 4 or FORD SUPER PLUS 2000 antifreeze, then there is no need to replace the coolant as part of maintenance.



To obtain the correct ratio of antifreeze and water, it is necessary to follow the instructions of the product manufacturer. In our latitudes, the coolant should not freeze at temperatures above -30°C.
