Coolant — basic information

            0

The cooling system is filled at the factory with a coolant mixture of water, FORD antifreeze and anti-corrosion additive. This prevents freezing of the liquid, the formation of rust and corrosion, the deposition of salts and, in addition, increases the boiling point of the coolant. Therefore, the engine cooling system must be filled with a coolant containing antifreeze and an anti-corrosion additive all year round.

Attention: For FORD SCORPIO vehicles, it is allowed to use FORD Super Plus 4 green-blue antifreeze or antifreeze that meets FORD specification ESD-M97B-49A. The cooling system of the SCORPIO can be filled with FORD SUPER PLUS 2000 red antifreeze coolant that meets specification WSS-M97B44-D.

Caution: When topping up the coolant level, make sure that you add a coolant containing the same antifreeze that is already in the coolant. If the coolant in the expansion tank is brown (mixed antifreeze green-blue and red), it will cause severe engine damage. Such coolant must be completely drained and blown through the cooling system from the side of the expansion tank with compressed air to remove all remaining liquid. After that, fill the cooling system with clean water and run the engine for several minutes to flush the system. Drain the water and fill the cooling system with a mixture of water and antifreeze. When changing the coolant, it is recommended to use FORD SUPER PLUS 2000 antifreeze.

If the cooling system is filled with a mixture of water and antifreeze Super Plus 4 or FORD SUPER PLUS 2000 respectively, then it is not necessary to replace the coolant as part of maintenance.

To obtain the correct ratio of antifreeze and water, the product manufacturer's instructions must be followed. In our latitudes, the coolant should not freeze at temperatures above -30°C.
