Starting the engine by pushing the vehicle (emergency start)

Attention: It is not possible to start the engine of a vehicle with an automatic transmission by pushing. On a vehicle with a catalytic converter, one push-start attempt is allowed and only when the engine is cold, otherwise there is a risk of damage to the catalytic converter.

Turn on the ignition.

Press the accelerator pedal.

Disengage clutch and engage 3rd gear.

Vehicle towed or pushed.

Slowly engage the clutch.

Note: It is rather difficult to start a cold diesel engine by pushing the car, because the preheating system does not function when the battery is discharged.
