Mechanical tensioner: To avoid unnecessary actuation, before working on the front seats and before removing them, be sure to insert the plastic safety plug attached to the belt tensioner housing into the belt tensioner. To gain access to the tensioner, remove the outer trim of the seat rail.
Pyrotechnic tensioner: To avoid unnecessary actuation, always disconnect the battery before working on the front seats and before removing them. Isolate the negative battery terminal to avoid accidental electrical contact. After disconnecting the battery, wait at least two minutes for the capacitor to discharge. This prevents unauthorized operation of the seat belt pretensioners and the airbag assembly.
Safety instructions: Assembly work on the front seat belts or their pretensioners must only be carried out by a workshop. Before disposing of a failed seat belt pretensioner, it must be activated (at the service station).
