Removal
Depending on the equipment, the car may be equipped with pyrotechnic or mechanical seat belt tensioners. Compare with the pictures to determine what equipment the car has. The following description applies only to removing a seat with manual adjustment. To remove a seat with an electric drive, it is necessary to disassemble the seat chassis, for which you should contact a service station.
Important: Disconnect the battery ground (-) cable with the ignition off. Insulate the negative battery terminal to avoid accidental contact.
Caution: When the battery is disconnected, the contents of electronic memory devices, such as engine fault codes or radio codes, are erased. Before disconnecting, also read the instructions in the chapter "Removal and installation the battery".
Safety instructions: After disconnecting the battery, wait at least two minutes for the capacitor to discharge. This prevents unauthorized activation of the seat belt tensioners and the airbag unit.
Remove the side cover from the outer seat rail.
Safety instructions: If present, always lock the mechanical seat belt tensioner. To do this, insert the locking device attached to the seat into the hole provided for this purpose in the seat belt tensioner! If the locking device is not available, it must be purchased from a service station.
Move the seat forward as far as it will go and remove the 3 bolts at the back.
Move the seat all the way back and remove the 2 front bolts.
Tilt the seat forward, release the seat adjustment lever spring and the seat belt tensioner cable. If equipped, disconnect the electrical connector.
Remove the front seat.
Installation
Install the seat, hang the seat adjustment lever spring and the seat belt tensioner cable. Connect the electrical plug connector.
First tighten the front and then the rear mounting bolts to a torque of 40 Nm.
Connect the electrical plug connector.
If the seat belt has a mechanical tensioner, remove the locking device.
Press the side cover.
Connect the battery ground (-) cable.
If available, set the clock.
If required, enter the radio theft protection code.
