Steering

Removal
1. Set the steering wheel to the straight ahead position.
2. Unscrew the bolt of the elastic joint flange clamping collar and disconnect the steering wheel shaft from the steering gear drive pinion.
3. Raise the vehicle and remove the front wheels.
4. Remove the cotter pins and unscrew the crown nuts of the ball joints of the steering rods.
5. Disconnect the steering rods from the steering knuckles using puller 13.006.
6. Unscrew the two bolts securing the steering gear housing to the body crossmember and remove the steering gear.
Installation
1. Set the rack to the forward position (half the angle of rotation of the rack required to move the rack from one extreme position to the other).

2. Connect the drive pinion to the flange of the elastic joint of the steering wheel shaft, observing the correct installation of both connected elements.
3. Install the steering gear in the appropriate place and tighten the two bolts securing the steering gear housing to the body crossmember.
4. Secure the ball joints of both steering rods to the steering knuckles of the wheels.
5. Tighten all threaded connections to the appropriate torques.
6. Install both front wheels and lower the vehicle.
7. Check and, if necessary, adjust wheel alignment.
