Replacing the fuel vapor recovery system canister (Fusion)

The fuel vapor recovery system canister is removed for inspection or replacement if a persistent gasoline smell appears due to a leak in the canister or if the canister purge valve fails. In addition, a leak in the canister and a failure of the purge valve may cause the engine to run erratically at idle speed, even to the point of stopping.



The adsorber is installed in the niche of the right front wheel.

You will need a Phillips-head screwdriver.

1. Remove the fuel tank (see "Replacing the fuel tank").



2. Use a screwdriver to press the clamps and disconnect the supply line.



3. Unscrew the clamp screw of the adsorber…





4. …and, having squeezed the clamp, remove the adsorber.

5. Install the canister in the reverse order of removal.
