Replacing the exhaust system suspension cushions (Fusion)

The rubber mounts of the exhaust system suspension are replaced if, due to damage or excessive deformation, the system elements begin to knock when in contact with the body or other units of the car.



The suspension pads of the additional muffler and the front pad of the main muffler are replaced using the same techniques..



...and replacing the rear suspension cushion of the main muffler is slightly different.

1. Place the vehicle on an inspection pit or lift.



2. To replace the front suspension cushion of the additional muffler, use a screwdriver to pry the cushion off the bracket…





3. …and then remove the cushion from the subframe bracket.

Note: If you are replacing a damaged cushion, cut it with a knife to make removal easier.

4. Install the new cushion in the reverse order of removal. To facilitate the installation of the cushion, lubricate the subframe and additional muffler bracket with a soap solution.



5. Replace the rear suspension cushion of the additional muffler in a similar manner…



6. …and the front suspension cushion of the main muffler.





7. To replace the rear main muffler suspension cushion, slide the cushion off the bracket…



8. …turn the pillow 90°…



9. …and remove it.

10. Install the new main muffler rear mount cushion in the reverse order of removal.
