Removing and installing the fuel vapor recovery system canister (Mondeo 4)

The fuel vapor recovery system canister is removed for inspection or replacement if a persistent gasoline smell appears due to a leak in the canister. In addition, a leak in the canister can cause unstable engine operation at idle speed, even to the point of engine shutdown.



The adsorber is mounted on the rear suspension cross member.

You will need: TORX T30 key, flat-blade screwdriver.



1. Squeeze the clamps and disconnect the fuel tank vent line and the canister purge valve line from the canister…



2. Unscrew the three screws securing the canister to the suspension crossmember and remove the canister.

3. Install the canister in the reverse order of removal.
