Replacing the outside handle and rear door lock (Fusion)

You will need: flat- and Phillips-head screwdrivers, an 8 mm spanner.

1. Remove the screw securing the outer handle trim…

2. …carefully pry up the trim with a screwdriver…

3. …and remove the handle trim.

4. Slide the outside handle back and remove it, disengaging its rod from the lock lever and the front latch from the door reinforcement.



5. Remove the rear door window regulator base (see "Replacing the rear door window regulator").

6. Unscrew the nut of the stud securing the door lock to the outer door panel…

7. …unscrew the three screws securing the door lock from the rear end of the door…

8. …squeeze the plastic clips…

8. …squeeze the plastic clips…


9. …and remove the lock from the door.



10. To remove the rear door lock latch, unscrew the two screws securing it to the body pillar and remove the latch.

11. Install the rear door lock and all removed parts in the reverse order of removal.

Note: If necessary, adjust the locking clarity by moving the latch vertically or horizontally, loosening its tightening.
