Removal on a gasoline engine
Disconnect the negative (-) cable from the battery.
Warning! This will erase data in electronic memory devices, such as the engine fault memory device or the radio code. Please read the section carefully "Removing and installing the battery", before disconnecting it.
Disconnect the pressure pipe bracket from the steering gear. To do this, unscrew the nut and bolt of the engine transport plate, as well as the bolt on the pump bracket.
Place a container under the pump to collect the oil that flows out when the pipes are unscrewed.
Loosen the clamp and pull hose "3" off the pump nozzle.
Disconnect the discharge line "2".
Remove the V-belt, see paragraph 1.19.
Remove the three front bolts through the holes in the V-belt pulley. Rotate the pulley to gain access to the bolts.
Remove one rear bolt and remove the power steering pump from the engine compartment.
Installation
Install the power steering pump and secure it with four bolts to a torque of 25 Nm.
Secure the oil line with a new O-ring to the pump.
Connect the receiver hose to the pump outlet and secure the hose with a clamp.
Install the V-belt, see paragraph 1.19.
Fill the reservoir tank with new hydraulic fluid of FORD ESPM-2C-166H specification.
Caution! Fill only with new oil, as even minor contamination may damage the hydraulic system. Do not shake the oil before filling, as this will cause air bubbles to form.
Pour in the oil slowly to avoid the formation of air bubbles.
Connect the negative (-) cable to the battery terminal.
Set the time on the clock.
Set the radio anti-theft code.
Bleed the power steering system.
Removal on a diesel engine
Disconnect the negative (-) cable from the battery.

Remove two bolts and remove the upper belt cover "1".
Place a container under the pump to collect the oil that flows out when the pipes are unscrewed.
Loosen the clamp and pull hose "6" off the pump nozzle.
Disconnect the discharge line "7".
Loosen the V-belt tension and remove it from the power steering pump pulley. To do this, loosen the clamp bolt "2" and loosen the belt tension with the tension bolt "3".
Remove the two front bolts "4" and the two rear bolts "5" and remove the pump from the engine compartment.
Installation
Install the power steering pump and secure it with four bolts to a torque of 25 Nm.
Secure the oil line with a new O-ring to the pump.
Connect the receiver hose to the pump outlet and secure the hose with a clamp.
Place the V-belt on the oil pump pulley and adjust the belt tension with the tension bolt, tighten the clamp bolt.
Fill the receiver with new hydraulic fluid. Specification: FORD ESPM-2C-166H.
