Changing the oil in a manual transmission or fluid in an automatic transmission

            0

The design of gearboxes does not provide for oil changes (working fluid) throughout the life of the vehicle.

However, sometimes the need to change the oil (working fluid) can occur, for example, when switching to an oil of a different viscosity, when repairing a gearbox, etc.).

GOOD ADVICE: Drain the oil (liquid) recommended for 15 minutes after driving, until it has cooled down and has good fluidity.

Oil in manual transmission mod. iB5 is merged as follows.

You will need: socket heads "for 8", "for 19", a hex key "for 8", a syringe, a wide container for draining the oil.

NOTE: Fill the transmission with oil recommended by the manufacturer to Ford specifications. If it is not available, Castrol or Mobil gear oils of API GL-4/5 SAE 80W-90 quality class can be used as a substitute.

NOTE: If the vehicle is operated for a long time at an ambient temperature below -30°C, we recommend replacing the oil filled at the factory with SAE 75W gear oil.

1. Remove the mudguard and crankcase protection if equipped (see Removal and installation of mudguard and crankcase protection).

2. Remove the shift cover (refer to Transmission Control Cable Replacement).

3. We recommend that you remove the gearshift cover, as the oil drained from the gearbox will spread inside the cover and then, pouring out of it, pollute the work area. To do this, unscrew the three bolts securing the casing and remove it.

NOTE: If equipped with an oil catcher (for example, curly funnel) gearshift cover can not be removed.

4. Remove the oil drain plug..

5.... after substituting a container under the hole, and drain the oil into it. Wait for the oil to drain completely (at least 15 min), and close the cap.

NOTE: There is a magnet on the oil drain plug (shown in the photo with an arrow).

Inspect it and clean it of adhering metal particles and dirt. The presence of a large number of metal particles on the magnet indirectly indicates a malfunction of the gearbox.

In this case, check and, if necessary, repair the box.

6. Wipe off any oil spills with a rag and install the gearshift cover (if it was filmed).

7. Remove the oil filler plug..

8.... and fill the gearbox with oil up to the lower edge of the oil filler hole (oil will begin to flow out of the hole).

9. Remove any oil spills with a rag and replace the oil filler plug.

10. Install the shift cover, mudguard and crankcase protection.

Oil in manual transmissions mod. MTX-75, MMT6 and MT-66 replace as follows.

NOTE: Fill the transmission with oil recommended by the manufacturer to Ford specifications. If it is not available, Castrol or Mobil gear oil of API GL-4/5 SAE 75W-80 quality class can be used as a substitute.

2. Unscrew plug A of the oil drain hole, having previously placed a container under the hole, and drain the oil into it. Wait for the oil to drain completely (at least 15 min), and close the cap.

3. Unscrew plug B of the oil filler hole and fill the gearbox with oil up to the lower edge of the oil filler hole (oil will begin to flow out of the hole).

4. Remove any oil spills with a rag and replace the oil filler plug.

To replace the working fluid in automatic transmission mod. AWF21 do the following.

NOTE: Use the transmission fluid recommended by the manufacturer to Ford specifications. If not available, Mobil ATF 3309 JWS quality grade can be used as a substitute.

1. Remove the mudguard and crankcase protection if equipped (see Removal and installation of mudguard and crankcase protection).

2. Unscrew the drain plug, having previously placed a container under the hole, and drain the liquid into it. Wait for the liquid to drain completely (at least 15 min), and close the cap.

3. Remove the air filter (refer to Removing and installing the air filter and intake silencer).

4. Turn out a stopper of a bulk aperture and fill in in liquid.

5. Start the engine and warm up the working fluid.

6. With the engine running, remove the fluid level indicator in the automatic transmission..

7….and check the level. It should be in the middle of the probe tip, in the area of \u200b\u200bthe risk (shown in the photo with an arrow).

8. Install all removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
