However, sometimes the need to change the oil (working fluid) may arise, for example, when switching to oil of a different viscosity, when repairing the gearbox, etc.).
USEFUL TIP: It is recommended to drain the oil (liquid) within 15 minutes after driving, while it is still warm and has good fluidity.
Oil in manual transmission mod. iB5 are drained as follows.
You will need: socket heads "8", "19", Allen key "8", syringe, wide container for draining oil.
NOTE: Fill the transmission with the oil recommended by the manufacturer according to Ford specification. If this is not available, Castrol or Mobil transmission oils of API GL-4/5 SAE 80W-90 quality class can be used as a substitute.
NOTE: If the vehicle is operated for a long time at ambient temperatures below -30°C, we recommend replacing the factory-filled oil with SAE 75W transmission oil.
1. Remove the mudguard and engine crankcase protection, if present (see Removing and installing mudguard and engine crankcase protection).
2. Remove the gearshift housing cover (see Replacing the transmission control cables).
3. We recommend removing the gearshift mechanism casing, since the oil drained from the gearbox will spread inside the casing and then, pouring out of it, contaminate the working area. To do this, unscrew the three casing mounting bolts and remove it.
NOTE: If you have a means of collecting the leaking oil (such as a funnel), you do not need to remove the gearshift cover.
4. Unscrew the oil drain plug…
5….first place a container under the hole and drain the oil into it. Wait until the oil has drained completely (at least 15 minutes) and screw the plug back on.
NOTE: There is a magnet installed on the oil drain plug (shown by the arrow in the photo).
Inspect it and clean it from stuck metal particles and dirt. The presence of a large number of metal particles on the magnet indirectly indicates some kind of malfunction of the gearbox.
In this case, check and repair the box if necessary.
6. Wipe away any oil spills with a rag and install the gearshift cover (if removed).
7. Unscrew the oil filler plug…
8….and fill the gearbox with oil up to the lower edge of the oil filler hole (oil will start to flow out of the hole).
9. Remove any oil spills with a rag and tighten the oil filler plug.
10. Install the gearshift housing cover, splash guard and engine skid plate.
Oil in mechanical gearboxes mod. MTX-75, MMT6 and MT-66replace as follows.
NOTE: Fill the transmission with the oil recommended by the manufacturer according to Ford specification. If not available, Castrol or Mobil transmission oil of API GL-4/5 SAE 75W-80 quality class can be used as a substitute.

2. Unscrew the plug A of the oil drain hole, having first placed a container under the hole, and drain the oil into it. Wait until the oil has drained completely (at least 15 minutes), and screw the plug back in.
3. Unscrew plug B of the oil filler hole and fill the gearbox with oil up to the lower edge of the oil filler hole (oil will start to flow out of the hole).
4. Remove any oil spills with a rag and tighten the oil filler plug.
To replace the working fluid in automatic transmission mod. AWF21 perform the following operations.
NOTE: Fill the transmission with the transmission fluid recommended by the manufacturer according to Ford specification. If not available, Mobil ATF 3309 JWS quality grade fluid can be used as a substitute.
1. Remove the mudguard and engine crankcase protection, if present (see Removing and installing mudguard and engine crankcase protection).
2. Unscrew the drain plug, having first placed a container under the hole, and drain the liquid into it. Wait until the liquid has drained completely (at least 15 minutes), and screw the plug back in.
3. Remove the air filter (see Removing and installing the air filter and intake silencer).
4. Unscrew the filler plug and fill in the liquid.
5. Start the engine and warm up the working fluid.
6. With the engine running, remove the automatic transmission fluid level indicator…
7….and check the level. It should be in the middle of the dipstick tip, in the area of the mark (shown in the photo by the arrow).
8. Install all removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
