Replacing gearbox seals

You will need: flat blade screwdriver, hammer, mandrel.

1. To replace the axle shaft seal, drain the oil (liquid) from the gearbox (see Manual Transmission Oil Change or Automatic Transmission Fluid Change).

2. Remove the front wheel drive from the side of the oil seal to be replaced (see Removing and installing front wheel drives).



3. Remove the oil seal with a screwdriver.



4. Lubricate the seal lip with gear grease and press it with a mandrel of suitable diameter with the seal lip inside the box.

5. Install the front wheel drive (see Removing and installing front wheel drives).

6. Fill with oil (liquid) into the gearbox (see Manual Transmission Oil Change or Automatic Transmission Fluid Change).




7. The oil seal of the input shaft of a mechanical gearbox is replaced on a gearbox removed from the car after removing the working cylinder of the clutch release drive with the clutch release bearing (see Clutch Release Slave Cylinder Replacement with Clutch Release Bearing). Remove the seal with a screwdriver (or specially made wire hook).



8. Lubricate the seal lip with transmission grease and press it with a mandrel of suitable diameter with the seal lip inside the box.
