Replacing the transmission control cables

You will need a key "for 10".

To replace the manual transmission control cables, perform the following steps.

1. Remove the shift lever yoke (refer to Removal and installation of the gear lever backstage).

2. Remove the mudguard and crankcase protection (see Removal and installation of mudguard and crankcase protection).



3. On the gearbox mod. iB5, unfasten the seven latches on the shift cover cover…



4….and remove the cover.



5. Press the gear selector cable latch button..




6.... and disconnect the cable from the gear selector.



7. Pry off the tip of the shift cable with a screwdriver..



8.... and disconnect the cable from the gear lever.



9. Turn the shift cable sheath retainer counterclockwise..




10.... and remove the shell stop from the bracket on the gearbox.



11. Similarly, disconnect the gear selection cable from the bracket on the gearbox.



12. Disconnect the cables from the front..



13.... and rear brackets on the clutch housing.


14. Remove the front thermal shield (see Removing and installing thermal shields).



15. Disconnect cables from an arm on the basis of a body.



NOTE: After removing the front thermal screen, access to the rubber sealed hole in the floor tunnel opens, through which the cables are passed into the passenger compartment.


16. To gain access to the cable seal mount (it is attached to the base of the body from the inside of the cabin) cut the soundproof upholstery of the floor tunnel and spread its edges to the sides.

17. Turn away two nuts of fastening of a sealant of cables and take cables in salon, taking out their tips one by one through a hole in the floor tunnel.

18. Install the transmission control cables and all removed parts in the reverse order of removal.


19. Adjust the gearbox control drive (refer to Transmission Control Actuator Adjustment).

To replace the automatic transmission control cable, perform the following operations.



1. Remove the battery tray (refer to Removing and Installing the Battery Shelf).



2. Press the latch..



3.... and disconnect the cable end from the gearshift lever.



4. Prying off the edge of the frame of the selector lever boot, remove its latches from the hole in the floor tunnel lining.



5. Gently prying off the edge of the decorative lining of the lever handle..



6….remove the trim.



7. Slide the boot ring down..



8.... press the two latches and remove the handle from the shift lever.



9. Remove a cover from the selector lever.



10. Remove the lining of the floor tunnel (see Removing and installing floor tunnel lining).

11. Disconnect the cable tip from the gear selector lever.

12. Remove the tip of the cable braid from the holder on the selector housing.

13. Turn away two nuts of fastening of a sealant of a cable and take a cable in salon, taking out its tip through a hole in a tunnel of a floor.

14. Install the transmission control cable and all removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
