To remove the torque rods, release the parking brake cable from the brake shoe and brake mechanism shield (see the "Brakes" section). Remove and install torque rod 11 (see Fig. 215) in the following order:
- Raise the rear of the car and remove the wheels;
- place a jack under the transverse suspension arm and lift it so that the shock absorber mount can be unscrewed from below;
- disconnect the parking brake cable from the torque rod;
- unscrew the brake pads and hang down the parking brake cable;

- unscrew the three bolts of the torque rod on the hub (only on models up to December 1997) and remove both bolts shown in Fig. 217, then remove the torque rod together with the support and pull the parking brake cable through the rod;
- clamp the support in a vice and release the jet thrust from it;
- if ABS is present, disconnect the wheel sensor plug connector from the rod.
Install in the reverse order of removal. The required tightening torques are given in the appendix.
Before reinstalling the thrust rod, place it on the support.
