Removal and installation of the rear suspension assembly

            0

The suspension cross member has its own guide pins, which are inserted into the corresponding holes in the underside of the vehicle. A powerful rolling jack is required for removal and installation. Removing the rear suspension assembly is carried out in the following order:

- loosen the wheel nuts, raise the rear of the car and remove the wheels;

- Completely remove the exhaust system as described in the relevant section.

- Disconnect the rear parking brake cables from the front cables (see sect. «brakes»).

- in the presence of ABS, unscrew the bolts for fastening the wheel speed sensors, disconnect the wire fastening brackets and remove the sensors;

- disconnect the pipelines of the brake circuit, for which unscrew the union nuts, remove the spring sheet and pull the hose out of the lock washer (be sure to cover the open ends of the hose with adhesive tape to prevent contamination);

- place the jack under the crossbar and raise it, unscrew both shown in Fig. 217 jet tie rod mounting bolts;

- remove three bolts on each side of the cross member (pic. 218) and slowly lower it onto the jack (an assistant is needed for this operation).

During assembly and installation, all rubber support connections are installed only when the vehicle with wheels is again lowered to the ground. Assemble and install the rear suspension assembly as follows:

- place the cross member on the jack in the correct position, lift and insert both guide pins into the corresponding holes;

- tighten the screws shown in fig. 218 bolts on each side with a torque of 120 Nm;

- install mounting supports for jet rods and tighten to 120 Nm;

- install the sensors, tighten the corresponding bolts to 10 Nm and secure the wire with a clamp (with ABS);

- connect and fix the brake hoses and pipelines, bleed the brake system (see sect. «brakes»);

- connect the parking brake cables and adjust the parking brake as described in sec. «brakes»;

- lower the car to the ground and tighten the wheels to 85 Nm.

The rear wheel alignment angles are checked after assembly by making appropriate measurements.
