The suspension cross member has its own guide pins that are inserted into the corresponding holes in the car's underbody. A powerful trolley jack is required for removal and installation. To remove the rear suspension assembly, proceed as follows:

- Loosen the wheel nuts, raise the rear of the car and remove the wheels;

- remove the exhaust system completely as described in the relevant section.

- disconnect the rear parking brake cables from the front cables (see section "Brakes").

- if there is ABS, unscrew the bolts securing the wheel speed sensors, disconnect the wire fastening brackets and remove the sensors;

- disconnect the brake circuit pipes by unscrewing the union nuts, removing the spring sheet and pulling the hose out of the lock washer (be sure to cover the open ends of the hose with adhesive tape to prevent contamination);

- unscrew the three bolts on each side of the crossbar (Fig. 218) and slowly lower it onto the jack (you will need an assistant for this operation).

When assembling and installing, install all rubber support joints only when the vehicle with wheels is lowered back to the ground. Assemble and install the rear suspension assembly as follows:

- place the crossbar on the jack in the correct position, lift and insert both guide pins into the corresponding holes;

- tighten the bolts shown in Fig. 218 on each side to a torque of 120 Nm;

- install the mounting supports for the reaction rods and tighten to a torque of 120 Nm;

- install the sensors, tighten the corresponding bolts to 10 Nm and secure the wire with a clamp (if ABS is present);

- connect and secure the brake hoses and pipes, bleed the brake system (see section "Brakes");

- connect the parking brake cables and adjust the parking brake as described in the section "Brakes";

- lower the vehicle to the ground and tighten the wheels to a torque of 85 Nm.

The rear wheel alignment angles are checked after assembly by taking the appropriate measurements.
