- Loosen the wheel nuts, lift the rear of the car and remove the wheel;
- place a jack under the wishbone and lift it up so that it is under load;
- if there is ABS, disconnect the corresponding plug connector and remove the sensor;
- disconnect the brake line and brake hose and release them from the holders, plug their holes to prevent contamination from getting in;
- remove the brake drum;

- remove the steering knuckle (Fig. 222) by turning the hub flange so as to gain access to all four mounting bolts;
- remove the brake caliper and tie it with a wire so that it does not hang down on the brake cable;
- remove the hub, for which you need to unfasten the shock absorber from the rear side, three nuts and bolts of the reaction rod, the upper, side and transverse levers, while the transverse lever must remain on the jack so that the spring does not fall out;
Install in the reverse order of removal. The required tightening torques are specified in the text or given in the appendix. Tighten the wheel hub to 68 N·m, and the ABS sensor to 10 N·m.
After installing the wheel hub, bleed the brake system.
To remove and install the wheel hub on vehicles manufactured since December 1997, proceed as follows:
- Loosen the wheel nuts, lift the rear of the car and remove the wheel;
- place a jack under the wishbone and lift it up so that it is under load;

- if there is ABS, disconnect the corresponding sensor plug and remove the wire, the fastening details are shown in Fig. 223;
- disconnect the parking brake cable from the brake shoe and brake shield (see section "Brake system");
- release the parking brake cable and the rubber fastening elements from the wheel hub support element and pull the cable through this support element;
- remove the brake drum;

- unscrew the bolts shown in Fig. 224, remove the wheel hub, while turning the hub flange so as to gain access to the four mounting bolts;
- remove the brake caliper and tie it with a wire so that it does not hang down on the brake cable;

- remove the hub, for which unfasten the shock absorber from the rear side, three nuts and bolts of the reaction rod, the front and rear transverse suspension arms from the hub (Fig. 225, A), the upper arm from the hub (Fig. 225, B) and the lower rear arm from the hub (Fig. 226);

- while an assistant holds the brake caliper from below, unscrew the two bolts shown in Fig. 227, then remove the entire unit.
Install in the reverse order of removal. Tighten all threaded connections with the vehicle on the ground.
