Removal and installation of naves of back wheels

Removal and installation of rear wheel hubs in vehicles with a combi body are described in subsection. 13.2.7. The wheel bearing of all designs cannot be replaced individually. At removal replace a nave in gathering with the bearing. Removing the hub on cars with a sedan body is carried out in the following order:

- lift a back part of the car and remove back wheels;

- on vehicles with drum brakes, disconnect both safety clips of the brake drum and remove the brake drum, carefully wring out the protective cover with a screwdriver and unscrew the hub nut with the insert;

- in vehicles with disc brakes, unscrew the brake caliper and remove both safety clips (if available) brake disc, carefully wring out the protective cover with a screwdriver and unscrew the hub nut with the insert;

Note: Tighten the wheel nuts carefully, make sure that the car stands securely on its supports.


- Disconnect the wheel hub flange from the axle projection using a two- or three-arm puller, as shown when removing the front wheel hub.

Note: If the circlip of the wheel bearing inner rotating ring falls out when the flange is removed, replace the entire assembly.


When removing, insert the hub flange through the axle lug and hit with a rubber mallet. Temporarily tighten the hub nut.

Depending on the design of the rear brakes, the installation of parts is carried out according to fig. 228 or 229. Pay attention to the following when assembling:

- always replace the safety clips of the drum or brake disc (in the presence of);

- tighten the brake caliper bolts with a torque of 60 Nm;

- after the vehicle is lowered to the ground, tighten the wheel hub nut to 290 Nm;

- tighten the wheel nuts to 85 Nm.
