Removal
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable (chapter 5 paragraphs 1).
2. Remove the master cylinder and power steering unit (paragraphs 11 and 16). If desired, the master cylinder does not need to be disconnected from the servo amplifier unit.
3. Fold back the mats in both front footwells.
4. Have an assistant support the connecting link coming out of the engine compartment.
5. Remove the nuts and bolts on each side of the engine compartment bulkhead. Remove the tie-rod assembly from the engine compartment. If necessary, have an assistant hold the bolt heads from inside the engine compartment while you remove the nuts.
6. Clean the connecting link components and inspect the bushings for wear. Replace if necessary.
Installation
7. Installation - in the reverse order of removal. When installing the master cylinder and servo booster unit, see paragraphs 11 and 16.
