headlights. On cars, block headlights are used, combining low and high beam lamps, a side light lamp and a direction indicator lamp.

Fog lights. Fog lights can be installed on cars at the bottom of the front bumper. They can only be turned on when the outdoor lighting is on.

Rear lights. In the taillights of cars with sedan and station wagon bodies, stop lamps, reverse lights, direction indicators, fog lamps and side lights are installed, cars with a hatchback body have lamps for direction indicators, side lights and brake lights.

Rear fog lamp (hatchback cars). The rear fog lamp is installed on the left side of the rear bumper. The fog lamp can be turned on with a switch on the instrument panel.

direction indicators. Turn signal lamps are installed in the headlights, rear and side lights. Depending on the equipment, the side direction indicators can be installed in the exterior mirror housing. Direction indicators include the left steering column switch (lamps of one side depending on the position of the switch) or alarm switch (all lamps at the same time).

Headlight electric corrector. The cars are equipped with an electric headlight corrector, which allows you to change the direction of the headlight beam in a vertical plane, depending on the load of the car.

License plate lights. In the tailgate trim (trunk lids) license plate lights are located.

USEFUL ADVICE: If the headlights suddenly start to shine dimly, and when the turn signal is turned on, the marker lamp flashes, restore contact «mass» body wires.

TIP: Get in the habit of changing bulbs regularly (especially the headlights). Over time, the bulb of the lamp becomes cloudy, the brightness of the lamp decreases. This process is quite slow, and the driver does not notice the gradual deterioration of road illumination.

USEFUL ADVICE: Recently, more and more cars appear whose headlights shine like a Christmas tree in various shades of blue. All this is called the word «xenon» and is considered very cool. No doubt, xenon headlights, installed as standard on the latest models of foreign cars, illuminate the road much better, and the car looks much more impressive with them. It is not surprising that many are also trying to improve their car, especially since now a lot of «xenon» lamps of various manufactures (most often Chinese). Do not buy cheap: such lamps have nothing to do with real xenon discharge lamps without incandescent filaments. These are ordinary lamps with stained glass. The light transmittance of such glass is much lower than that of standard lamps, the threads of fakes are usually not installed in focus, a headlight with such a lamp, with external showiness, practically does not illuminate anything, only additionally mercilessly blinds oncoming drivers. In addition, manufacturers of such lamps, in order to compensate for the decrease in luminous flux, increase their power beyond the norm. Often their installation leads to melting of wire insulation and damage to electrical equipment. A fire is also possible. Better not buy with your money «headache», and buy ordinary lamps of good quality.

USEFUL ADVICE: Sooner or later, the bulbs in the rear lights burn out. It would seem that what is easier is to take a new light bulb, suitable for the size of the base and voltage, and install it instead of the burned out one. However, please note that the rear lights use lamps with the same base, but different power: 5W and 21W. And this is an important little thing. Do not confuse the lamps in places: 5-watt lamps are installed for side light, 21-watt lamps are installed in direction indicators and brake lights. If you install low-wattage bulbs in your brake lights and turn indicators, other drivers simply won't see your signals in inclement weather. And powerful lamps in «dimensions» will be very disturbing to drivers who are driving behind and annoy them. Their attitude towards you will also be appropriate.
