Removal
CAUTION: Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to Section 414-01 for additional information.
1. Remove the radio/cassette player and CD player (if equipped). Refer to Section 415-01 for additional information.
2. Remove the socket with the heater/air conditioning control panel.

3. Remove the socket with the heater/air conditioning control panel (continued).
- Disconnect the seven electrical connectors (six shown).

NOTE: To remove the Bowden cables, turn the rotary switches all the way to the left.
Remove the socket with the heater/air conditioning control panel (continued).
- Release the Bowden cables.

5. Remove the passenger side footwell lower trim panel.

6. Release and remove the air distribution cables.

7. Release and remove the temperature control cables.
- Release and remove the temperature control cables.

Installation
1.
NOTE: Lay out new Bowden cables without twisting them and make sure they are easily accessible.
NOTE: To install the Bowden cables, turn the rotary switches all the way to the left. The mechanism will engage easily in this position.
NOTE: The Bowden cables are identical for right-hand and left-hand drive vehicles, although they connect to the choke actuator on opposite sides.
Install the elements back in place in reverse order.
2. Check the operation of the Bowden cables.
