Diagnostic Instructions - Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) - Vehicles built up to 08/2002.

Inspection and verification


1. Check the validity of the customer's complaint by using the system.

2. Perform a visual inspection for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage.

  • Fuse Box(s)
  • Electrical connector(s)
  • Chain(s)
  • Wiring harness
  • Airbag module(s)
  • Bulb

3. If an obvious cause for the reported or received complaint is identified, correct the fault (if possible) before proceeding to the next step.

4. If the cause is not visually obvious, connect the diagnostic unit to the data link connector and select the vehicle to be tested from the diagnostic unit menu.

5. Retrieve DTCs and refer to the Symptom Table.
