Checking the operation of switches (Focus Turnier 1)

Sometimes the power supply is interrupted simply because of faulty switches. The Focus uses a variety of switch types. It is best to check them with a test lamp - the needle contact on the top of the lamp should be a "sharp needle" and not a "blunt nail". Replace faulty switches only with genuine Ford parts.

Get the latest wiring diagram for your Focus.

First, check the current-carrying wire(s). To do this, apply a test lamp to it and pierce the insulation of the wire with the end of a needle.

Check if there is voltage at the switch. To do this, you should usually turn on the ignition or lighting.

Turn on the switch and check if the switch passes the input voltage to the output.
