Removing the combined instrument panel

            0

The combined instrument panel in your Focus is a complex unit in which individual elements cannot be dismantled. It contains indicator devices and control lights of all vehicle systems. Since the bulbs in modern dashboards have been found to last throughout the life of the vehicle, we will no longer discuss lighting equipment in this chapter. The dashboard in the Focus comes in three different models: standard, comfort and sporty.

The vehicle equipment determines the functioning of the indicators, so some indicators are there, but they do not work. Indicators, including signal indicators, always use the output signals of sensors. You should always take this into account when troubleshooting. For example, an electronic speedometer receives its signals from a vehicle speed sensor (VSS), located on the gearbox. Other systems using the same output are, for example, engine control, ABS, speed control, trip computer.

It is important to always check the functioning of interconnected systems

Therefore, always check interconnected systems - this leads to time savings when troubleshooting. All instruments and indicator lights in the Focus combined instrument panel receive their signals not through wires, but through the foil (fee) with sputtered conductive strips. Boards are different depending on the volume of configuration and model. Keep this in mind when repairing and purchasing spare parts.

Your Ford dealer will determine the correct charge from the code number on the vehicle's data sheet or vehicle documentation. The most minor failures require the installation of a new board: often only the bulbs are defective, or the connectors suffer from weak contacts. In this case, you will not be able to avoid dismantling the combined instrument panel.

Stages of work

Disconnect the battery.

Loosen the trim panel of the combined instrument panel (arrows) and dismantle it. To do this, disconnect another connector on the trunk release switch.

Remove the decorative panel

Unscrew the fixing screws (4) combined instrument panel with a Phillips screwdriver.

Remove the combined instrument panel. Loosen the fixing plate (1) and disconnect the connector (2) combined instrument panel Carefully pull the combined instrument panel up past the handlebar and out of the opening.

Important: always hold the device upright or set it aside, otherwise silicone may leak out.

Mount all parts in reverse order.

Reconnect the battery, re-enter the erased code, perform a function check.
