Removal and installation the steering wheel (Fusion)

You will need: TORX T15 key, 24 mm socket head, flat-blade screwdriver.

1. Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.

2. Set the steering wheel to a position corresponding to the straight-ahead movement of the vehicle.

4. Remove the driver's airbag module (see "Removal and installation the driver's airbag").

5. Loosen the steering wheel to steering shaft mounting bolt while holding the steering wheel from turning.



Warning! Do not completely loosen the steering wheel mounting bolt, otherwise you may injure yourself when removing the steering wheel by hand if it suddenly comes off the steering shaft.


Note: You can prevent the steering wheel from turning using the ignition switch anti-theft device locking mechanism. To do this, remove the key from the ignition switch and turn the steering wheel until the shaft is locked by the anti-theft device. After loosening the steering wheel mounting bolt, turn off the anti-theft device by inserting the key into the ignition switch and set the steering wheel back to the straight-ahead position.


Note: You can prevent the steering wheel from turning using the ignition switch anti-theft device…


6. Use sharp blows of your hands to knock the steering wheel off the splines of the steering shaft..

7. …finally unscrew the bolt and remove the steering wheel.

8. Remove the spring installed under the steering wheel.

9. Install the steering wheel in the reverse order of removal.
