Filling and replacing transmission oil (Mondeo 1)

            0

All gearboxes are filled with oil, which lubricates the gearbox parts well throughout the entire service life of the car, and therefore does not require replacement. If the drain plug was unscrewed by accident or a leak was detected, check the oil level and top up if necessary.

Gearbox MTX-75 (front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive vehicles)

Raise the car horizontally.

Raise the car horizontally.

Use a hex key to remove the filler plug on the gearbox.

Check the oil level with your finger. It should reach the lower edge of the oil filler hole, or at least 10 mm lower.

Use only FORD ESDM-2C186-A transmission fluid. Use an oil syringe or hose to top up. Place a suitable container under the plug to catch any oil that may overflow. Do not add too much oil at one time. Total capacity: 2.4 l.

Tighten the oil filler plug to a torque of 25 Nm.

Lower the car.

Transfer case of a four-wheel drive vehicle

The transfer case of the all-wheel drive MONDEO is mounted with a flange on the gearbox. It is filled with 0.68 liters of transmission oil according to the FORD SQM-2C901OAA specification.

With the vehicle horizontally positioned, unscrew the inspection bolt "1". The oil level should reach the lower edge of the inspection hole, otherwise unscrew the bolt "3" of the oil filler hole and add oil to the required level. Add only FORD transmission oil of the specified specification. An oil syringe or hose is required for adding oil. Place a suitable container under the plug to catch any oil that flows over the edge. Do not add more oil at one time than required. A magnet is installed on the drain plug "3".

Tighten the check and oil filler bolts to a torque of 25 Nm.

With the vehicle horizontally positioned, unscrew plug "A" from the rear axle housing. The oil level should reach the lower edge of the hole; if necessary, top up with an oil syringe. Use SAE 90 transmission oil according to FORD specification SQMC-9002-AA

Tighten the plug to a torque of 40 Nm.

Automatic transmission

The oil filled at the factory can remain in the box for the entire service life of the car, no replacement is required. The filling capacity is 7.5 liters. The new box already contains 3.5 liters of oil.

Checking and setting the oil level

The gearbox oil level indicator is located next to the brake master cylinder. Automatic transmission oil is added through the guide tube of the indicator, if necessary. Use only oil of the FORD ESP-M2C166-H specification.

Attention! Perform the check on a warm engine.

Warm up the engine.

Place the unloaded vehicle on a horizontal surface. Apply the parking brake, press the foot brake pedal. The engine runs at idle speed during the test.

With the engine running, move the drive mode selector lever to all positions three times.

Set the selector lever to position "P" and leave the engine idling for another minute.

With the engine running, pull out the oil level indicator and wipe it with a clean, lint-free cloth, or better yet, a piece of leather. Insert and remove the indicator again, check the oil level.

The oil level should be between the MIN and MAX marks on the indicator.

When adding oil, use a clean funnel and fine mesh strainer. Add oil with the engine stopped through the oil level indicator tube opening.

Warning! Do not add too much oil. Excess oil may cause damage to the automatics. It should be drained or removed with a syringe.

After checking and adjusting the oil level, insert the dipstick as far as it will go.
