Filling and changing gear oil

            0

All gearboxes are filled with oil, which lubricates the gearbox parts well throughout the life of the car, and therefore does not require replacement. If the drain plug was inadvertently removed or a leak was found, check the oil level and top up if necessary.

Gearbox МТХ-75 (front- and all-wheel drive vehicles)

Raise the vehicle horizontally.

Unscrew the filler plug on the gearbox with an Allen wrench.

Check the oil level with your finger. It should reach the lower edge of the oil filler hole, in extreme cases not lower than 10 mm.

Use only FORD ESDM-2C186-A gear oil. An oil syringe or hose is required for topping up. Place a suitable container under the plug to catch the oil flowing over the edge. Do not add too much oil at one time. Total capacity: 2.4 liters.

Tighten the oil filler plug with a torque of 25 Nm.

Lower the car.

All-wheel drive transfer box

The transfer box of the MONDEO four-wheel drive vehicle is flange-mounted on the gearbox. It is filled with 0.68 liters of gear oil according to the FORD SQM-2C901OAA specification.

Turn out on horizontally located car a control bolt -1-. The oil level must reach the lower edge of the control hole, otherwise unscrew the bolt -3- of the oil filler hole and add oil to the required level. Add only FORD transmission oil of the specified specification. An oil syringe or hose is required for topping up. Place a suitable container under the plug to catch the oil flowing over the edge. Do not add more oil at a time than required. The drain plug -3- is fitted with a magnet.

Tighten the control and oil filler bolts with a torque of 25 Nm.

Rear axle differential of a four-wheel drive vehicle

With the vehicle in a horizontal position, unscrew the plug -A- from the rear axle housing. The oil level must reach the lower edge of the hole, top up with an oil syringe if necessary. Use SAE 90 gear oil according to FORD specification SQMC-9002-AA

Tighten the plug with a torque of 40 Nm.

Automatic transmission

Oil filled at the factory can be in the box for the entire life of the car, replacement is not required. The filling capacity is 7.5 liters. The new box is already filled with 3.5 liters of oil.

Checking and setting the oil level

The transmission oil level gauge is located next to the brake master cylinder. Oil for automatic transmissions is added through the guide tube of the indicator, if necessary. Use only FORD ESP-M2C166-H specification oil.

Attention! check on a warm engine.

Warm up the engine.

Place the unladen vehicle on a level surface. Apply the parking brake, depress the foot brake pedal. The engine is idling during the test.

With the engine running, move the driving mode selector three times to all positions.

Set the selector lever to position "R" and leave the engine idling for one more minute.

Pull out the oil level indicator while the engine is running and wipe it with a clean, lint-free cloth, preferably with a piece of leather. Insert and remove the pointer again, check the oil level.

The oil level must be between the MIN and MAX marks on the gauge.

When adding oil, use a clean funnel and a fine mesh sieve. Add oil with the engine stopped through the hole in the oil level indicator tube.

Attention! do not add too much oil. Excess oil can cause damage to the automation. It should be drained or taken with a syringe.

After checking and adjusting the oil level, insert the level indicator as far as it will go.
