Set the gearshift lever to neutral position, the gear is disengaged.
Raise the car.

Loosen the clamp nut and pull the shift rod off the transmission shift shaft.
Degrease the clamping surfaces on the shaft and rod with alcohol.
Place the shift rod onto the shift shaft.

Pull the bellows and the cuff off the gearshift lever. Lock the lever with the FORD 16-073 locking template. Install the template in the gearshift lever holder and lock it by turning it to the right. The gearshift lever is fixed only in a strictly vertical position, in the middle of the round opening. If there is no special device, then it is necessary for an assistant to hold the lever in a vertical position.
Secure the clamp bolt to the shift shaft, but do not allow the rod or shift shaft to move or rotate.
Remove the locking template from the shift housing. Put the cuff and corrugation back in place.
Check the ease of gear shifting. With the gearshift lever released and the gear disengaged, the lever should be in a vertical position, otherwise repeat the adjustment.
Lower the car.
