Removal and installation of the pump of a cooling liquid

            0

If the coolant pump fails, it can only be replaced; pump cannot be repaired. If the shaft seal is leaking, then when the engine is running, the coolant flows down the cylinder block, flowing out of the hole for de-airing the drive shaft of the coolant pump. The coolant pump in the 4-cylinder petrol engine is driven by a V-belt; in a diesel engine, the pump is driven by the camshaft timing belt.

Withdrawal

Attention! Since the right engine mount must be unscrewed, a crane or jack is required to support the engine for removal.

Drain and collect coolant see point 3.3.

Remove the coolant compensation tank, to do this, remove the hoses and unscrew the tank, it is fastened with two bolts.

Jack the engine under the oil pan, use wood shims to prevent damage. Raise the jack until the engine is slightly raised.

Unscrew the mounting nuts on the right engine bracket. Remove the bracket.

Attention! In this case, the engine must be supported, otherwise it will fall down.

Unscrew the right engine mount.

4-cylinder petrol engine

Remove the toothed belt see point 1.3.

Unscrew the center bolt of the toothed belt guide pulley next to the water pump.

Place a suitable container under the coolant pump and collect the escaping liquid.

Remove the hose from the coolant pump nozzle, first unclench and slide the mounting clamp.

Unscrew the four fixing bolts and remove the coolant pump together with the seal.

Diesel engine

Remove the toothed belt see point 1.7.

Move the toothed belt tensioner -1- to the free position and secure it in this position, compress the spring -2- and remove the tension roller. 3 - toothed belt.

Remove the toothed belt tension spring -1-. Unscrew and remove tensioner -2-.

Remove the hose from the coolant pump connection, first loosen and slide back the mounting clamp.

Unscrew the four fixing bolts and remove the coolant pump together with the seal.

Installation

Before installation, clean all sealing surfaces with a scraper to remove rust and dirt. Avoid scratches on sealing surfaces.

Gas engine

Fit coolant pump -1- with new seal -2-, tighten fixing bolts to 30 Nm.

Tighten the guide roller for the toothed belt with a torque of 40 Nm.

Connect the hose to the coolant pump and secure with a hose clamp.

Install the toothed belt see point 1.3.

Install the V-belt see paragraph 1.19.

Diesel engine

Install the coolant pump with a new seal, tighten the fixing bolts to 25 Nm.

Screw on the belt tensioner, compress and install the mounting spring.

Connect a hose to a branch pipe of the pump of a cooling liquid and fix it with a fixing collar.

Install the toothed belt see point 1.7.

Install the V-belt see paragraph 1.19.

All engines

Screw the right engine mount with a torque of 85 Nm.

Screw the right engine bracket with new self-locking nuts. Lower the jack. tighten the nuts with a torque of 90 Nm.

Remove the jack.

Screw in the coolant expansion tank on the right. Connect hoses and secure with clamps

Fill in the coolant see point 3.3.

Warm up the engine. After that, put the car on a dry area and check the cooling system for leaks.
