Checking the sound signal (Mondeo 3)

Horns do their job in a modern car – protected from dirt and injected water – absolutely reliably: in the Mondeo, the horn is located under the mudguard at the front of the car. As long as the cable connections and the ground contact are in order (check them with a test lamp or a multimeter), this horn will "outlive" its Mondeo. If the horn suddenly "becomes silent", look for a fault in the horn contact in the steering wheel – it should be "currently" live. However, in the era of automatic locking systems, this is easier said than done – we do not advise you to do this: the contact is located under the driver"s airbag. And it is better not to touch the "life-saving" airbag with your "fingers" even for an experienced amateur. In special workshops, not all workers can handle airbags, but only specially trained fitters.
