If you want to adjust the light properly and quickly, find a dark wall as a screen and do the following:
|
ORDER OF EXECUTION |
- Fill up your Mondeo completely or put about 30kg of extra weight in the boot – with the tank about half full.
- Place an assistant in the driver's seat or alternatively place a 75 kg weight in the right footwell.
- Check that your tires are at the correct pressure.
- "Park" your car exactly five meters from the dark background (wall).
- Before you "get to work", press hard and repeatedly on your car's shock absorbers from the front and back and...
- ...set the headlight range control to position "0".
Do it quickly: transfer the "light points" to the wall. |
- Measure the distance between the ground and the centers of both headlights. Transfer these dimensions to the wall and connect the dots with line S1.
- Five centimeters lower, draw a parallel line E on the wall. It characterizes the inclination of the low beam at a distance of five meters.
- Look through the rear window and ask your assistant to "draw" a perpendicular line M from the center of the car.
- Now measure the distance between the car and the headlight center points (right and left). Transfer these values to the auxiliary line S1 (right and left from the intersection point of both lines M and S1) and mark them with adjustment crosses S2.
- Exactly five centimeters below these crosses, adjust the low beam break points on the adjustment line.
- If your Mondeo has fog lights, do the same with them. Build an auxiliary line with adjustment crosses (fog light centers).
- You will "find" the headlight adjustment screws under the engine hood above both headlights. The inner screw 1 adjusts the reflector position in the vertical direction, the outer screw 2, on the contrary, in the horizontal direction.
Under the engine hood are the headlight adjustment screws. |
- Turn on the low beam and...
- ...turn the vertical adjustment screw 1 until the horizontal cut-off line of the low beam is aligned with the adjustment line.
- Then turn the side adjustment screw 2 on the inside of the fog lamp until the turning point on the low beam pattern coincides with the adjustment cross. The "diffusion rate" of 15% may be located above the line.
- After such adjustment, the high beam automatically "becomes correct".
