For an individual fuse, however, the "fact" of overload can occur even when a fully loaded electrical circuit is additionally "embellished" by other consumers (HiFi systems, powerful output amplifiers or unacceptable powerful lamps). In addition, banal car vacuum cleaners and refrigerators, which are simply fed by current from the cigarette lighter socket, can sometimes "melt" a fuse. Therefore, if necessary, allocate a separate electrical circuit for additional consumers in the Mondeo – naturally, with its own fuse. To exclude all possible options, it is better to contact an auto electrician at the factory, who can tell you the required wire cross-section (min. 15 mm²) and a sufficient method of protecting the electrical circuit.

Distributed across different electrical circuits - on-board fuses

The engine management system and most powerful units are protected separately. To ensure that your Mondeo does not remain completely without current in the event of an electrical failure or defect, Ford engineers have distributed its on-board consumers across several electrical circuits. Non-essential auxiliary consumers are combined into different groups and also "pass" through a fuse accordingly. This is not the case in the electrical circuits between the starter, battery, generator and ignition switch: here, the full power of the battery is always present. Therefore, special care when handling these electrical circuits: ALWAYS disconnect the battery first! Otherwise, major damage and ignition of the wires and even a fire in the car will be programmed.
