NOTE: The trunk trims are shown removed in the reverse order of their installation on the vehicle. Trying to remove them in a different order will not produce the desired result, as each previous trim holds the following ones with its edges.
1. Open the tailgate.

2. Remove the upper ends of the cords for lifting the luggage compartment shelf from the holders on the left and right of the door…

3. …and remove the shelf.

4. Remove the trunk floor mat.

5. Remove the spare tire from the trunk (see "Changing a Wheel")…

6. …and both leveling pads, which also function as containers for small items.

7. Remove the four rear panel trim mounting pins…

8. …and remove the trim, pulling its edge out from under the rear door opening seal.

9. Fold the rear seat cushion forward and remove the screw of the lower seat belt mount on the side passenger side.

10. Remove the plug from the hole in the upper side panel trim for the seat belt passage and remove the plug from the belt.

11. Remove the two screws securing the middle side panel…

12. …separate the lining from the side, overcoming the elastic resistance of its holders…

13. …and remove the trim, passing the seat belt through its opening. Similarly, remove the middle trim of the other side.

14. Remove the corner trim, overcoming the elastic resistance of its holders. Similarly, remove the corner trim from the other side of the trunk.

15. Fold the rear seat back forward, move the rear edge of the lower side panel trim away from the side panel and remove the trim by pulling its front edge out from under the lower part of the rear pillar trim. Remove the lower part of the other side panel trim in the same way.
16. Remove the upper part of the rear pillar trim (see "Removing and installing interior trim").

17. Use a screwdriver to pry up the edge of the plug on the upper side panel…

18. …and remove the plug, overcoming the elastic resistance of its clamps.

19. Remove the two screws securing the upper trim to the side panel…

20. …and remove the upper side panel trim, overcoming the elastic resistance of its holders. Similarly, remove the upper side panel trim of the second side panel.

NOTE: Inspect the trunk trim holders, replace any broken holders.
21. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
