Piping from the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler to the EGR valve (Focus 1)

Removal

1. Remove the charge air cooler outlet pipe.

• 1. Release the clamps.
• 2. Unscrew the nut.

NOTE: Mark the position of the clamp so that it can be installed in exactly the same position during installation.

Remove the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) line clamp.



3. Remove the EGR pipe. Remove the two bolts.

Installation

NOTE: Ensure that the clamp is installed in the same position as it was before removal.

NOTE: Do not tighten the bolts at this stage.

Install the EGR pipe bolt (hand tighten the EGR pipe bolts to the intake manifold).

CAUTION: Do not overtighten the clamp.

Install the EGR pipe clamp.



3. Tighten the EGR pipe bolts.

CAUTION: Make sure the inside of the charge air cooler outlet pipe end is clean and free of oil, as this will reduce adhesion when connecting the pipe to the charge air cooler. Failure to follow this instruction may result in engine damage.

Install the charge air cooler outlet pipe.

• 1. Tighten the clamps.
• 2. Tighten the nut.
