Removal
1. Remove the fuel rail. For additional information, refer to Section 303-04A / 303-04B / 303-04C / 303-04D / 303-04E / 303-04F / 303-04G.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Section 100-02 for additional information.
3. Remove the lower intake manifold mounting bolt.
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Disconnect the engine lifting eye from the cylinder head.
6. Disconnect the idle air control (IAC) sensor connector.
7. Disconnect the throttle position (TP) sensor connector.
8. Disconnect the Intake Manifold Runner Control (IMRC) actuator cable from the IMRC lever (intake manifold assembly shown removed for clarity).
- 1.Turn the IMRC lever.
- 2.Remove the IMRC actuator cable.
9. Disconnect the IMRC actuator cable from the intake manifold assembly (intake manifold assembly shown removed for clarity). Release the IMRC actuator cable locking elements.
10. Disconnect the vacuum hoses from the throttle body.
11. Disconnect the brake booster line from the intake manifold. Release the quick release coupling and disconnect the brake booster line.
12. Separate the two sections of the intake manifold.
13. Disconnect the knock sensor (KS) connector from the inner section of the intake manifold.
14. Remove the lock nut and unscrew the bolts securing the inner section of the intake manifold (for clarity, the intake manifold is shown removed). Discard the lock nut as it is no longer needed.
15. Unscrew the stud securing the inner section of the intake manifold.
16. Remove the intake manifold sections.
Installation
1.
NOTE: Clean and inspect the intake manifold gasket. Install a new intake manifold gasket if necessary.
NOTE: Install a new intake manifold locknut.
Install the elements back in place in reverse order.
