Interior lighting (Focus 1)

            0

The interior lighting system consists of the following elements:
  • Front interior light.
  • Rear interior light.
  • Luggage compartment light.

The interior lighting system can be switched on using a three-position switch located in the front interior light shade, which (the switch) provides the following selection:
  • the interior lights are on with the door(s) closed.
  • the interior lights are off.
  • the interior lights are on when the door(s) are open.
  • the interior lights turn on with a delay after the door(s) are closed.

If the interior lamp delay is set, these lamps will go out as soon as the ignition key is turned to start the engine.

The 12 second delay function is controlled by the Central Timer Module (CTM) on vehicles manufactured up to 08/2001 or the Generic Electronic Module (GEM) on vehicles manufactured from 08/2001 onwards.

When the CTM or GEM receives an input signal from the switch mounted in the door lock striker or from the remote control transmitter, it activates the interior light function, which switches the interior light relay to turn on the interior light. The CTM or GEM allows for a 12-second delay before the lights turn off. This timer function is reset if any of the input signals are reactivated within the specified period.
