Measuring the resistance of the ignition coil (Focus Turnier 1)

A reliable measurement requires a functioning engine control. In high-voltage ignition systems, the multimeter can also be used to check the primary resistance in the test mode.

Turn off the ignition.

Disconnect the ignition wires at the ignition module.

Checking the primary resistance

Disconnect the multi-pin connector.

Connect the ohmmeter alternately to terminals 1 and 2, and also to 3 and 2.

Specified measurement values

Both readings should be between 0.4 and 0.6 ohms. Otherwise, replace the ignition module.
