Maintenance should be performed every 15,000 km or at least once a year. Under severe operating conditions, such as city and short-distance driving, frequent mountain driving, trailer towing and dusty road conditions, maintenance should be performed accordingly more frequently. Items not marked with the symbol are performed during maintenance every 15,000 km, and items marked with the symbol (*) are additionally performed during maintenance every 30,000 km.
Engine
Engine: change oil, change oil filter.
Diesel engine: Remove water from the fuel filter.
Cooling and heating systems: check the fluid level, check the concentration of antifreeze. Visually check the tightness and external contamination of the radiator.
Exhaust system: check for damage.
Engine: visual inspection of the lubrication system for leaks.
V-belt: check the tension and condition of all belts, adjust if necessary
Perform a check of the exhaust gas content (check of the idle speed, check of emissions of harmful substances, interrogation of memory devices of fault codes) - at a service station.
* Engine ONS: tighten the intake manifold mount to the prescribed torque value.
* Adjust valve clearances (not required for DOHC engines and all engines built since 9/94).
* V6 engine up to 8/94: tighten the mount at the head on the intake side to the specified torque value.
* Diesel engine: replace fuel filter.
* Petrol engine: replace spark plugs (for engines manufactured since 9/94, replace only every 45,000 km).
* Air conditioning system: check filling.
Gearbox, final drive
* Manual transmission: check and, if necessary, adjust the oil level.
* Automatic transmission: check the oil level, lubricate the drive of the mode switching mechanism.
* Rear axle: check and adjust oil level if necessary.
* All-wheel drive vehicle: Check the oil level in the transfer case and front axle final drive.
* Cardan joint covers: check for leaks and damage.
Front axle and steering
* Tie rod ends: check for clearances and fastening, check dust caps.
* Ball joints, check dust caps.
* Steering: check the bellows for leaks and damage.
* Power steering: check the fluid level in the expansion tank.
* Front and rear axle: visually inspect axle parts for damage.
Body, interior
Replacement element of the fine cleaning filter of the cabin air: replace
Seat belts: check for damage.
* Doors: check door opening limiters, locking wedges/lock cams for proper operation and lubricate.
* Engine compartment/trunk hood: check for proper operation and lubricate locks.
* Anti-corrosion protection of the underbody: check.
* Air conditioning system: clean the drains for water condensation.
Body: check the paintwork for damage.
Brakes, tires, wheels
Brake pads: check the thickness of the brake linings.
Set of tires: check tread depth and tire pressure; check tires for wear and damage (including the spare tire).
* Brake system: check pipelines, hoses, brake cylinders and connection points for leaks and damage. Check the brake fluid level.
* Wheel nuts: tighten the nuts to a torque of 100 Nm.
Electrical equipment system
All current consumers: check operation.
Lighting system: check and adjust the headlight beam angle if necessary.
Sound signal: check.
Windscreen wipers: check the rubber bands of the windscreen wiper blades for wear.
* Window washer system: check operation, ensure nozzles are positioned correctly, top up fluid level.
* Battery: check voltage and electrolyte level.
Body
Paintwork, anti-corrosion protection of the bottom, preservation of cavities: check and restore if necessary.
* Door hinges and locking strips: lubricate.
* Seat belts: check for damage, replace if necessary.
Additionally, the following work must be performed:
Every 3 years or 45,000 km
* Air filter: replace the replaceable filter element (replace more often if there is a lot of dust).
* Automatic transmission: adjust the brake band.
* Engine ONS: Check the intake air heating system.
* Engine ONS: replace crankcase ventilation valve.
Every 3 years
* Brake fluid: replace.
* Coolant: replace.
Please note: Changing the coolant as part of maintenance is not required if the cooling system was last filled with a mixture of FORD-Super Plus 4 antifreeze and water.
Every 90,000 km
* Gasoline engines: replace fuel filter.
