Removal and installation of the fuel tank

Attention! The fuel tank should only be removed if you have a fuel suction pump. Do not suck fuel by mouth through the hose. For all-wheel drive models, follow the instructions at the end of the chapter.


Withdrawal



Attention! Keep your work area well ventilated. Fuel vapors are poisonous, do not use open fire, flammable! Keep a fire extinguisher handy.


Run out all the fuel in the tank while driving.

Disconnect the ground wire (-) from the battery.

Attention! As a result, data in electronic storage devices, such as an engine fault memory or a radio code, are erased. Please read the section carefully "Removing and installing the battery", before disconnecting it.


Unscrew the fuel tank cap and use a pump to remove fuel from the tank through the nozzles. Follow the pump manufacturer's instructions.

Remove the rear seat cushions and disconnect the plug from the fuel level sensor in the tank

Raise the vehicle and support the fuel tank with a jack.

Unscrew the bolts of the rear axle stabilizer supports, tilt the stabilizer down, see point 12.



Substitute any vessel for fuel. Remove the hose clamps, remove the hoses.


Petrol engine: remove the fuel drain line from the quick lock on the fuel filter.

Loosen the retaining strap bolts and carefully lower the fuel tank.

Disconnect the air removal hose and fuel lines from the top of the tank. For ease of installation, mark the corresponding nozzles with colored adhesive tape.

Check if all fuel lines and hoses are disconnected. Remove the fuel tank.

Installation



Before installation, check the fuel tank and fastening tapes for defects, replace them if necessary.

Place the fuel tank in the installation position and connect the plug of the sensor for the amount of fuel in the tank.

Connect the top fuel line.

Install the fuel tank, install the fastening bands and tighten them.

Connect the fuel line with a quick-lock fastener to the filter and secure it with a clamp.

Fill the tank with fuel and screw on the tank cap.

Install the stabilizer, tighten the clamps with a torque of 25 Nm.

Connect ground wire (-) to the battery. Set your existing clock and set the radio's anti-theft code.

Check the functions of the fuel gauge on the instrument panel.
