First remove the front wheel drive shaft, for which (before putting the car on the jack) Loosen the drive shaft nut.

Remove the steering knuckle as follows:

- loosen the wheel nuts, fold out the drive shaft nut lock and use a wrench with an interchangeable head «by 32 mm» loosen the nut;

- at the top of the shock absorber, loosen the nut 5 turns as shown in fig. 188, to keep the stem from turning, install a wrench with an Allen key on it;

- place the car on a jack and remove the wheel;

- Unscrew the trailing arm pivot nut on the steering arm and press out the tie rod end with a suitable ball pin puller as shown in fig. 189. The figure shows a special Ford puller, but other pullers with the same principle of operation can be used for this operation).

- in the presence of ABS, unscrew the bolt of the speed sensor and remove the sensor from the drive shaft;

- Turn away both bolts of fastening of a support of the disk brake mechanism which are in the place shown on fig. 190, and wire the caliper to the suspension (the brake caliper must never hang on the hose);

- completely unscrew the drive shaft fastening nut and remove the disc, disconnect the fixing rod from one of the wheel bolts and remove the brake disc;

- unscrew the clamping bolt on the lower side of the independent suspension hinge, the location of which is shown in fig. 191 (unscrew the nut, knock out the bolt), and push down on the control arm to release the ball joint trunnion;

Note: Be careful not to damage the ball joint protector. We recommend wrapping a cloth around the hinge.

- separate the steering knuckle from the drive shaft (using a puller used when removing the drive shaft), be sure to ensure that the constant velocity joint and the shaft on the inside do not separate, i.e. in the process of push-ups, constantly monitor this connection;

- on the upper side of the steering knuckle, unscrew the connecting bolt between the shock absorber strut and the steering knuckle (pic. 192), slightly open the clamping slot of the steering knuckle, to do this, set the socket wrench with an internal hexagon to the exact size of the slot (the surface of the key must exactly fit the slot);

- turning the key to the left or right, release the edges of the hexagon so that the shock absorber strut is free;
