Remove the steering knuckle as follows:
- loosen the wheel mounting nuts, fold back the drive shaft nut guard and loosen the nut using a 32 mm socket wrench;

- at the top of the shock absorber strut, loosen the nut by 5 turns, as shown in Fig. 188, to keep the rod from turning, install a key with an internal Allen key on it;
- place the car on a jack and remove the wheel;

- unscrew the nut of the longitudinal arm joint on the steering gear arm and press the end of the transverse tie rod with a suitable ball-head pin puller, as shown in Fig. 189. The figure shows a special Ford puller, but other pullers with the same operating principle can be used for this operation).
- if there is ABS, unscrew the speed sensor mounting bolt and remove the sensor from the drive shaft;

- unscrew both bolts of the disc brake caliper, which are located in the place shown in Fig. 190, and tie the caliper to the suspension with wire (the brake caliper should under no circumstances hang on the hose);
- completely unscrew the drive shaft mounting nut and remove the disc, disconnect the mounting rod from one of the wheel bolts and remove the brake disc;

- unscrew the clamp bolt on the lower side of the independent suspension joint, the location of which is shown in Fig. 191 (unscrew the nut, knock out the bolt), and press down on the transverse arm so that the ball joint pin comes out;
Note: Be careful not to damage the ball joint protective cuff. It is recommended to wrap a rag around the joint.
- separate the steering knuckle from the drive shaft (using the puller used when removing the drive shaft), be sure to ensure that the constant velocity joint and the shaft on the inside do not separate, i.e. constantly monitor this connection during the pressing process;

- on the upper side of the steering knuckle, unscrew the connecting bolt between the shock absorber strut and the steering knuckle (Fig. 192), slightly open the clamping spline of the steering knuckle, for which set the socket wrench with an internal Allen key to the exact size of the spline (the surface of the wrench should exactly fit the spline);
- by turning the key to the left or to the right, release the hexagon edges so that the shock absorber strut is free;

- while doing this, press the steering knuckle down until the stand is released (insert the key as shown in Fig. 193), now you can remove the steering knuckle.
