Replacing the pressure sensor in the power steering system


The power steering pressure sensor is screwed into the power steering pump housing.

You will need a 13 mm wrench.

1. Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.

1. Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.


2. Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the sensor.

3. Unscrew the sensor from the power steering pump housing.

CAUTION: Prevent power steering fluid from leaking out by plugging the hole in the pump housing, such as with a wooden plug.


4. Install the pressure sensor in the reverse order of removal.

5. Check the fluid level in the power steering reservoir and add fluid if necessary (see "Checking the level and adding working fluid to the power steering reservoir").
