The driver's airbag must be removed when repairing the vehicle's steering and electrical components, so the process of removing and installing it is described in this manual. However, to avoid injury, strictly follow the recommended work sequence.

You will need a flat blade screwdriver.

1. Turn off the power supply to the airbag module by removing the fuse (shown in the photo with an arrow) in the main unit located under the instrument panel.

NOTE: Mounting block removed from vehicle for clarity.

WARNING: Attempting to remove the airbag module without disconnecting power to it may result in unexpected airbag deployment.

WARNING: Do not proceed with the following airbag removal operations until the activator capacitor is completely discharged. To discharge the capacitor, after removing the fuse from the mounting block, wait at least 15 minutes.

WARNING: Do not disassemble the airbag module.

WARNING: Do not drop the air bag module and expose it to water, grease or oil.

WARNING: The airbag module must not be exposed to temperatures above 95°C.

2. Remove the steering column cover (cm. «Removal and installation of a casing of a steering column»).

3. On the reverse side of the steering wheel, use a screwdriver to press the spring holder of the airbag module through three windows in its hub..

NOTE: This is how the windows are located in the steering wheel hub (for clarity shown on the removed steering wheel) to access the spring holder for the airbag module.

4. …carefully lift the module…

5.... take it away from the steering wheel hub, disconnect the airbag wiring harness block from the module by squeezing its latches..

6.... then the wire of the horn switches and remove the airbag module.

7. Install the airbag in the reverse order of removal.
