Replacing the outer rear door handle (Focus 2)

Shown is the replacement of the outer handle of the left door. The handle of the right door is replaced in a similar manner.

You will need a TORX T20 key.



1. Open the door, use a screwdriver to pry the plug out of the hole in the rear end of the door.



2. Through the opened hole in the end, unscrew the screw securing the outer handle insert..



3. …and remove the insert.





4. Slide the outer handle back…



5. …and remove the handle, disengaging its leash from the lock lever, and the front retainer from the door amplifier.



6. If the front…



7. …and the rear gaskets of the outer handle have lost their elasticity, are severely deformed or torn, replace them.

8. Install the rear door outer handle in the reverse order of removal.
