Removal
Note! To facilitate subsequent installation of electrical wires and water hoses, tie their ends with twine. The cord will then remain on the removed cover. During installation, the cord can be used to easily pull the electrical wires and water hoses back.
Disconnect the negative (-) cable from the battery.
Warning! This will erase data in electronic memory devices, such as the engine fault memory device or the radio code. Please read the section carefully "Removing and installing the battery", before disconnecting it.
Remove the roof trim from the passenger compartment.
Remove the trunk cover.
Fold the rear seat forward.
Remove the left luggage rack support.
Pull back the left trunk trim section.
Turnier:
Remove the rear left reversing light cover.
Remove the left trunk trim.
Disconnect the multi-pin connector on the reversing light housing.
Remove the trunk lid trim.
Disconnect the multi-pin plug of the trunk lid on the left wall and disconnect the wire bundle from the clamps.
Remove the rubber boot from the C-post to expose the underside of the wire harness rubber boot.
Pull off the rubber cap on the left side of the cargo area lid. To do this, remove the four clips on the bottom side and pull off the rubber cap holder.
Caution! Handle the rubber nozzle with care, as if it is damaged, the wiring harness must be replaced.
Pull the hose off the windshield washer nozzle.
Pull off the rubber cap on the right side of the cover. To do this, remove both holders on the bottom side. Pull out the windshield washer hose.
Support the cargo area lid.
Pull the gas shock absorber "1" off the ball head on the cargo compartment lid. To do this, slightly pull the spring lock "2" of the gas shock absorber with a screwdriver "3".
Mark the position of the trunk lid hinges by outlining the hinge attachment with a felt-tip pen.
Unscrew the four mounting nuts and, with the help of an assistant, remove the cargo compartment cover.
Installation
Adjust the position of the hinges on the cargo compartment lid and tighten them to a torque of 25 Nm.
Place the gas shock absorber stop onto the ball head.
Pull in the water hose and electrical cord using the extended cord.
Connect the water hose to the windshield washer nozzle.
Connect the multi-pin plug.
Install the cover and hose attachment onto the trunk lid.
Close the cargo compartment lid without the lock and check its position. If necessary, loosen the fastening nuts and adjust the position of the lid so that the air gaps between the cargo compartment lid and the body are parallel and have the same size. Tighten the fastening nuts.
Install the cargo compartment lid trim.
Install the left trunk trim.
Install the left luggage rack stop.
Install the trunk cover.
Turnier:
Connect the multi-pin plug to the reversing light housing.
Install the reversing light housing.
Install the left trunk trim.
Connect the ground (-) wire to the battery terminal. Set the clock time. Set the radio anti-theft code.
