1. Open the battery cover above the positive terminal, loosen the nut securing the wire to this terminal and remove the wire tip from the terminal.
2. Remove the air filter (see Removing and installing the air filter and intake silencer), as it interferes with the removal of the battery.

3. Remove the battery cover by pulling it towards you and overcoming the resistance of its clips.

4. Loosen the pressure plate mounting bolt…

5….and remove the plate.

6. Slide the battery forward along the shelf until the negative terminal is accessible.

7. Loosen the tightening nut of the clamping bolt securing the wire to the negative terminal…

8….and remove the wire tip from the terminal.

9. Remove the battery from the engine compartment.
10. Install the battery and all removed parts in the reverse order of removal. Before connecting the wires, clean the battery terminals and the inner surfaces of the wire tips with fine-grained sandpaper. Connect the wires in the reverse order of removal, observing polarity. After connecting the wires to the terminals, apply a thin layer of Litol-24 grease or similar to the wire tips and exposed surfaces of the terminals (copper-containing conductive greases are most preferable).
