Replacing the coolant (Mondeo 3)

ORDER OF EXECUTION

Release the system pressure via the expansion tank cap. Be careful if the engine is hot: risk of scalding.
Place a clean catch pan under the radiator and open the lower coolant hose clamp or the rear radiator reservoir drain screw.
To help the coolant drain better, unscrew the expansion tank cap. Drain the liquid and close the receiving container.
Mount the lower hose - use a new clamp. If the drain screw was unscrewed, use a new sealing ring here.
Top up the expansion tank with the prescribed coolant, then top up the remaining volume to approximately two millimetres below the upper mark with tap water that is as low in limescale as possible, so that no more air bubbles appear.
Start the engine and set the engine speed to medium. The engine should run until the thermostat opens. If necessary, add low-calcium tap water. Make sure that the level in the tank remains constant when the engine is warmed up to operating temperature.
Screw the cap back on and take a test drive. During this time, your Mondeo will ventilate itself.
After a test drive, carefully open the expansion tank cap and run the engine at medium speed until the cooling fan comes on.
If necessary, top up the coolant to the upper mark of the reservoir with low-lime tap water.
Don't forget to close the expansion tank.
