- Release the system pressure using the expansion tank cap. Be careful if the engine is hot: danger of scalding.
- Position a clean receptacle under the radiator and open the lower coolant hose clamp or rear radiator reservoir drain screw.
- To make the coolant drain better, unscrew the cap on the expansion tank. Drain the liquid and close the receiving container.
- Mount the lower hose - while using a new mounting clamp. If the drain screw has been unscrewed, then a new sealing ring must be used here.
- Top up the expansion tank with the prescribed coolant, then supplement the residual volume to about two millimeters below the upper mark with as little-known tap water as possible so that air bubbles no longer appear.
- Start the engine and set the average speed. The engine should run until the thermostat opens. Top up with low-lime tap water if necessary. Make sure that the level in the tank remains constant when the engine is heated to operating temperature.
- Screw on the locking cap and test drive. During this, your Mondeo will self-ventilate.
- After a test drive, carefully open the expansion tank cap and run the engine at medium speed until the cooling fan comes on.
- If required, add coolant up to the upper marking of the tank with mild lime tap water.
- Don't forget to close the expansion tank.
