Constantly checking
|
ORDER OF EXECUTION |
- Check the coolant level in the expansion tank only when the engine is cold. The cooling system is not under pressure in this case and the liquid expands "normally".
- Even if the level is below the lower mark, do not add liquid, as the coolant expands automatically when the engine is hot. There should be enough space in the tank for such "excess" liquid. Therefore, do not be deceived by the supposedly low level.
- To top up, carefully open the shut-off cap. When the engine is hot, the tank is under pressure. Therefore, first place a thick rag around the cap.
If you open the lid carelessly, there is a risk of scalding - the coolant will spurt out of the tank like a hot key. - Add coolant to the reservoir; the level should not rise above the upper mark.
- Small volumes of liquid can be safely added when the engine is warm.
Refilling the fluid: Since the fluid level in the expansion tank should be above the "MIN" mark, the tank should be refilled with pre-mixed fluid. When opening the tank, pay attention to the formation of bubbles and oil sludge - this most often indicates a defective cylinder head gasket. |

Ageless - Genuine Coolant
Ford recommends that the Mondeo coolant be changed after 10 years or 240,000 kilometers. Naturally, this only applies to genuine WSS-M97B44-D (Motorcraft Super Plus 2000) fluid. When it's time to change, proceed as follows.
