Replacing brake discs

The discs are mostly replaced in pairs, otherwise there will be different coefficients of friction on the brake discs - the brakes can then pull to the side.



Front axle



PROCEDURE
  1. Carry out the first steps, as when replacing brake pads and...
  2. ...block the caliper with welding wire in the wheel arch.
  3. Remove the disc guards from the wheel bolts. If necessary, replace rusted brackets during installation.
  4. Mark the position of the disk in the wheel hub with an oil crayon from the emergency kit and...
  5. ...then carefully slide the disc off the wheel hub with a rubber mallet.
  6. Before mounting the disc, thoroughly clean the mating surfaces of the wheel hub and disc with a wire brush to ensure that the disc is firmly seated.
  7. Install the disk - according to the marking - on the hub and...
  8. ...shift the safety clips onto the wheel bolts.


    Front disc wheel brake in detail:

    1 - wheel hub,
    2 - Disc brake mechanism,
    3 - Safety washer,
    4 - Brake holder,
    5 - Brake caliper,
    6 - Brake pads.

  9. Then attach the brake caliper to the steering pivot and complete the installation in reverse order.

Rear axle



PROCEDURE
  1. Proceed at the beginning, as when replacing the brake pad and...
  2. ... fix the brake caliper with welded wire in the wheel housing.
  3. Remove the disc guards from the wheel bolts. If necessary, replace rusted brackets during installation.
  4. Mark the position of the disk in the wheel hub with an oil crayon from the emergency kit and...
  5. ...then carefully slide the disc off the wheel hub with a rubber mallet.
  6. Before mounting the disc, thoroughly clean the mating surfaces of the wheel hub and disc with a wire brush so that it fits snugly.
  7. Install the disk - according to the marking - on the hub and...
  8. ...shift the safety clips onto the wheel bolts.
  9. Then fasten the caliper to the axle shaft and complete the installation in reverse order.
