Replacing brake discs (Mondeo 3)

Replacement of discs is usually carried out only in pairs, otherwise the brake discs will have different friction coefficients - in this case the brakes may pull to the side.

Front axle

ORDER OF EXECUTION

First, follow the same steps as when replacing brake pads and... ...lock the caliper in the wheel well using welding wire. Remove the disc retaining clips from the wheel bolts. If necessary, replace rusted clips during installation. Use the oil crayon from the emergency kit to mark the position of the disc in the wheel hub and... ...then carefully use a rubber mallet to pry the disc off the wheel hub. Before installing the disc, thoroughly clean the mating surfaces of the wheel hub and disc with a wire brush to ensure proper contact. Install the disc – according to the marking – on the hub and... ...move the safety brackets onto the wheel bolts. Front disc wheel brake mechanism in detail: 1 — Wheel hub, 2 — Brake disc, 3 - Safety washer, 4 - Brake holder, 5 — Brake mechanism support, 6 — Brake pads. Then secure the brake caliper to the steering gear pivot support and complete the installation in reverse order.

Rear axle

First proceed as if replacing a brake pad and... ...fix the brake caliper in the wheel well using welding wire. Remove the disc retaining clips from the wheel bolts. If necessary, replace rusted clips during installation. Use the oil crayon from the emergency kit to mark the position of the disc in the wheel hub and... ...then carefully use a rubber mallet to pry the disc off the wheel hub. Then secure the caliper to the axle shaft and complete the installation in reverse order.
