Cuff replacement

            0

1. Oil leaks often appear due to wear or destruction of the seals on the differential side and / or the cuff of the linkage selector axis, as well as the O-ring of the speedometer drive gear. Replacing these seals is easy as it does not require the transmission to be removed from the vehicle.

2. These cuffs are installed at the junction of the drive shafts with the transmission. To check for leakage, you need to raise the car, place it on supports. If oil is leaking, you will notice oil leaks under the drive shaft.

3. Remove the corresponding drive shaft (chapter 8). To remove the right drive shaft, the intermediate shaft must also be removed.

4. Using a power screwdriver or pry bar, remove the collar from the transmission housing. Do not damage the hull (see fig. 5.4, a, b).

If the cuff is difficult to reach, then try pressing it at one point. In this case, a part of the cuff in another place will come out of the body. If the cuff does not fit, purchase a cuff remover.

5. Clean out the oil seal seat in the transmission housing.

6. Lubricate the new seal with clean oil, then press it into the housing without distortion by hand.

7. Using a tube or sleeve, drive the cuff into the body.

8. Install the drive shaft (chapter 8).

9. Apply the parking brake, raise the front end and place it on supports.

10. Turn out a bolt of fastening of the lever mechanism of a gear change to an axis on the back party of transmission. Pull out the linkage and remove the rubber cap.

11. Using a tool or pliers, pull the collar out of the transmission housing. To pull out the cuff, you can drill one or two holes in it and screw self-tapping screws into them. Then the cuff must be pulled out with forceps for these screws.

12. Clean out the cuff seat.

13. Lubricate the new seal with clean oil, then press it into the housing without distortion by hand.

14. Using a tube or sleeve, drive the cuff into the body.

15. Establish a rubber cap over an axis of the selector.

16. Install the linkage to the axle at the rear of the transmission and tighten the bolt.

17. Adjust linkage if necessary (paragraph 2).
